BBC News: TV broadcast design
Client: BBC News
Agency: Red Bee Media, London
Role: Art director | Motion designer
Brief: Red Bee Media commissioned Disgrace Design to create a television promo for BBC News. The work needed to reflect the authority and clarity of the BBC News identity while introducing enough energy and movement to engage a broad television audience.
Process: We worked closely with the creative producer to explore a range of visual concepts, typographic treatments, transitions and compositional approaches. We developed the visual direction, animation style and narrative flow of the promo, ensuring that every element remained clear, accessible and consistent with the wider BBC News brand system.

Outcome: The finished promo established a clear and adaptable visual framework for BBC News television campaigns. The resulting motion language balanced editorial authority with a more dynamic and contemporary viewing experience. It was first broadcast in 2018, and an adapted version continues to air today, demonstrating the longevity and flexibility of the original design system.
